VALLEY CITY, N.D. – A Fargo South High School graduate is climbing the coaching ranks of the National Football League.
Bobby Babich, a 2002 Fargo South High School graduate, was promoted by the Buffalo Bills to be the team’s new defensive coordinator on Tuesday, January 30. Babich has been with the Bills organization since 2017. He served as an assistant defensive backs coach in 2017, safeties coach (2018-2021), and linebackers coach (2022-2023).
Babich had recently received interviews from other teams for defensive coordinator positions prior to his promotion on Tuesday.
Babich got into coaching following a collegiate playing career at North Dakota State University where he played for his father Bob Babich. The elder Babich eventually left NDSU for coaching opportunities in the NFL.
Prior to his playing career at NDSU, Bobby Babich was a standout two-way player at Fargo South playing running back and cornerback for the Bruins while also serving as the team’s kickoff and punt returner. A two-year starter for the Bruins, Babich was named All-EDC and All-State his senior season. Babich also ran track for the Bruins and was a member of the team’s 400-meter relay team that won a state title in 2002.
