FARGO – Tyler Liffrig, a 2006 Williston High School graduate and registered NDHSAA hockey official, has received the biggest assignment of his officiating career.
Liffrig, who currently resides in Bismarck, has been assigned to officiate the 2023 NCAA Division I Men’s Hockey Frozen Four set for April 6-8 at Amalie Arena in Tampa Bay. Liffrig will serve as a linesman during the national championship game between the University of Minnesota and Quinnipiac set for a 7 p.m. CDT puck drop on Saturday, April 8. The game is being televised on ESPN2.
Liffrig is a registered NDHSAA official and has officiated boys hockey in the state for 16 years beginning his officiating career during the 2007-08 boys hockey season.
Liffrig has officiated eight NDHSAA Boys Hockey State Tournaments (2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2021 and 2023). He served as referee during the state championship games in 2013, 2016, 2021 and 2023.
In addition to the NCAA Frozen Four assignment, Liffrig also officiated NCAA Division I men’s hockey regional tournaments held in Bridgeport, CT in 2021 and 2023 (March 24-26).
