Bismarck High wins first ever NDHSAA Girls Wrestling Team Dual State Title

FARGO – History was made at the FARGODOME on Saturday, February 18.

The first ever NDHSAA-sponsored Girls Division Team Dual State Tournament was held. The historic girls division team dual tournament field was made up of Bismarck High, Bismarck Century, Bismarck Legacy, Minot High, Carrington, Central Cass, Fargo and Grand Forks.

The two squads that would meet in the first ever NDHSAA Girls Division Team Dual State Tournament championship match were West Region, No. 3 seed Bismarck High and East Region, No. 1 seed Central Cass.

Bismarck High’s Cambree Anderson opened the championship dual with a pin at 190 pounds.

Central Cass would counter with two straight pins from Catie Sinner (250 pounds) and Anna White (100 pounds). Bismarck High would forfeit the 105-pound match, which gave Central Cass a 18-6 edge through the first four matches.

The Demons recovered, however, getting 24 straight points (two pins and two forfeits) in the next four matches.

Through eight matches, Bismarck High held a 30-18. Grace Lemar of Central Cass got the Squirrels back on the board with a decision at 130 pounds, but Central Cass couldn’t build on the momentum as Bismarck High scored pins in the final five matches of the dual.

Bismarck High got pins from Anderson (190), Maggie Thielges (110), Cambrie Feist (125), Madison Reems (135), Paige Baumgartner (140), Aubrie Overson (145), Lexi Beckler (155) and Lily Bishop (170).

Bismarck High finished its first team dual season in program history with a 8-2 record.
