Saskatchewan Roughriders to honor former player Weston Dressler (2004 Bismarck High grad)

VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The Saskatchewan Roughriders will be giving former player and 2004 Bismarck High graduate Weston Dressler his due later this summer.

The Roughriders announced Monday (May 9) that Dressler is among a group of former players and coaches set to be inducted into the team’s “SaskTel Plaza of Honour” which recognizes individuals and teams who have made major contributions to the Saskatchewan Roughriders Football Club of the Canadian Football League (CFL).

Dressler will be honored alongside Mike Mcullough and Ken Miller during a special halftime ceremony of a home game scheduled for August 19.

Saskatchewan’s “SaskTel Plaza of Honour” has honored 135 individuals and three teams during its history.

Dressler played with Saskatchewan from 2008-2015 playing in 123 games with the Roughriders and helped the team to a win in the 101st Grey Cup Championship (2013). Dressler caught a 26-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter of the championship game that the Saskatchewan Roughriders won 45-23 over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Dressler is third all-time in Roughriders receiving yards and receptions (7,792 yards and 538 catches). He is fifth all-time in team touchdowns with 50. Dressler also won the CFL’s Most Outstanding Rookie Award in 2008 while playing for the Roughriders.

In total, Dressler played 11 seasons in the CFL ending his career with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2016-2018). The former Bismarck High Demons standout running back caught a total of 715 passes for 10,026 yards and 60 receiving touchdowns during his CFL career.

Prior to playing professional football, Dressler played collegiate football at the University of North Dakota and was a mult-sport star ar Bismarck High.
