NDHSAA Member School Alumni: Emily Stroup, former multi-sport standout at Fargo South HS

This week's NDHSAA Member School Alumni Spotlight shines on Emily Stroup, a 2016 graduate of Fargo South High School. Below is a list of accomplishments in Stroup's prep and collegiate careers.

EMILY STROUP - PREP ATHLETIC STANDOUT AT FARGO SOUTH HIGH SCHOOL

GRADUATION YEAR: 2016

HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC CAREER

VOLLEYBALL

  • Five-year starter on Fargo South’s Varsity squad.

  • Was named a Varsity captain during the 2013, 2014 and 2015 seasons.

  • Was named a NDHSCA All-State First Team selection in 2015 (senior), 2014 (junior) and 2013 (sophomore) seasons. 

  • All-Eastern Dakota Conference selection in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

  • NDHSCA East Region Senior Athlete of the Year in 2015.

  • Led Fargo South to appearances at the NDHSAA Class A Volleyball State Tournament in 2013 and 2014.

  • Holds the NDHSAA Class A Volleyball State Tournament record for kills in a tournament (3 matches) with 74 in 2013.

  • Surpassed 2,000 kills in her prep career during the 2015 season.

  • Surpassed 1,000 set assists in her prep career during the 2014 season.  

BASKETBALL

  • Finished her prep career with 1,365 points.

  • Finished her prep career with 1,335 rebounds - an unofficial all-time career record in North Dakota’s Class A Division. 

  • Was named a NDAPSSA All-State Second Team selection in 2016 (senior) and 2015 (junior) seasons.

  • All-Eastern Dakota Conference selection in 2014, 2015 and 2016.

COLLEGIATE VOLLEYBALL CAREER

  • Played four seasons at The University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) from 2016-2019.

  • Four-Year Letter winner for the Rebels (2016-2019).

  • Started in every match as a sophomore, junior and senior for the Rebels.

  • Never exited the court as a six-rotation player her junior and senior seasons at Ole-Miss.

  • Was named AVCA All-Region team her senior season (2019).

  • Was named to the All-Southeast Conference (SEC) team and AVCA All-Region team her junior season (2018).

  • Ranked second in the country in kills (584) and led SEC in total points (639) & kills per set (4.70) her junior season (2018).

  • Her 584 kills in 2018 set a new single-season record at Ole Miss, which still stands today.

  • Finished her career with 1,553 kills, a career record at Ole Miss, which still stands today.

  • Set a program record for kills in a match (rally scoring) with 32 vs. Louisiana State University (LSU) on November 7, 2018.

  • Led the Rebels in kills in her sophomore (474), junior (584) and senior (431) seasons.

  • Member of the Rebels’ squad that won the 2017 National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC).   

  • Finished her career with 979 digs (2.26 per set) and a 3.58 kills per set average.

OTHER HONORS

  • Member of the National Honor Society (Fargo South High School).

  • Won a USA Women's Junior A1 Volleyball National Championship in 2015 (Des Moines, Iowa).

  • Was named to the All-Tournament Team at the USA Women's Junior A1 Volleyball High Performance Championships in 2015 (Des Moines, Iowa). 

  • Was named to the SEC’s All-Community Service Team in 2018.

  • Was Named to SEC’s Honor Roll in 2017, 2018 and 2019 & the SEC’s First-Year Honor Roll in 2016.
