Fargo North/South edges Davies in 2023 NDHSAA girls hockey state title game

MINOT – The Fargo North/South Spruins girls hockey co-op skated to the program’s second consecutive NDHSAA girls hockey state championship on Saturday, March 4.

The Spruins defeated Fargo Davies 2-0 at MAYSA Arena in Minot. 

North/South and Davies skated to a 0-0 draw in the first period, but Sophomore Kate McComb got the Spruins on the board with a power-play goal at the 12:23 mark of the second period.

Davies outshot North/South 20-19 in the game and 11-7 in the third period, but was unable to get the equalizer. Instead, North/South junior Anna Nelson scored an empty-net goal at the 16:08 mark of the third period to seal the Spruins’ victory.

North/South Senior goalie Savannah Wuitschick posted 20 saves in the shutout victory in net and earned Tournament MVP honors following the championship game. Wuitschick allowed just two goals during the tournament.

North/South finished the 2022-23 season 20-4-2.
