FARGO – Playing in state championship matches is nothing new for the Bismarck Century volleyball team.

After a win in Friday’s semifinals over Fargo Davies – the team that snapped the Patriots’ string of four straight NDHSAA Class A volleyball state championships a year ago, Century earned a spot in the program’s 10th consecutive NDHSAA Class A state title match.

Century’s opponent in the 2020 NDHSAA Class A state title match was West Fargo High, a program making its first title match appearance since 2007.

Both squads were region champions this fall, but on Saturday, November 21 it was the Patriots who came away with the state title. Century edged West Fargo 3-1 (16-25, 29-27, 25-17, 25-19) at the FARGODOME. It is Century’s sixth state title in the previous 10 seasons and eighth in program history.

The victory also capped off an undefeated season for Century (22-0).

Senior Julia Fitterer led the way for the Patriots collecting 19 kills and 22 digs. Logan Nissley added 13 kills and 23 digs for the Patriots.

Nadia Chwialkowski paced the Packers with 14 kills and two blocks. Erin Binstock added 11 kills and 23 digs for West Fargo (28-3).
