NDHSAA Board Meeting Synopsis - (April 9)

VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The North Dakota High School Activities Association Board of Directors met in person in Valley City on Tuesday, April 9.

The following were agenda items were discussed or acted on:

  • The Board approved a report from the Executive Board Committee that included a recommendation regarding the naming/numbering of basketball regions and districts for Region 3B and Region 4B. 

  • The Board approved a report from the Tournament Committee that included the approval of 2025 winter region tournament sites. Sites approved can be found on the “2024-2025” Tab on the following link: https://ndhsaa.com/calendar/tournament-sites/current 

  • The Board approved 7-year Activity Calendar start dates for the 2030-31 School Year. https://ndhsaa.com/calendar/approved 

  • The Board approved a report from the Realignment Committee that included finalized Football Guidelines for the 2025 season. The approved Realignment Committee report also included placement of Thompson boys wrestling into the Class B East Region for individual competition and Class B Northeast Sub Region for team dual competition in 2024-25. The approved Realignment Committee report also included preliminary region placements for Valley City High School in all Class B sports & activities for the 2025-26 school year.

  • The Board approved meeting dates for the 2024-25 school year.

  • The Board approved a Member School Survey to be delivered to the NDHSAA Member Schools on April 15.

  • Executive Director of the North Dakota School Boards Association (NDSBA) and current NDHSAA Board member Alexis Baxley notified the Board that she has appointed Richland School Board President Nathan Berseth to serve as the NDSBA representative on the NDHSAA Board of Directors. Berseth’s four year term will begin July 1, 2024. Baxley will continue to serve on the NDHSAA Board of Directors through June 30, 2024.

  • The Board approved the addition of a new member school for 2024-25 – Martin Luther School in Fargo.     

The next scheduled Board meeting is June 11 in Valley City.
