NDHSAA Board Meeting - October 2014 - By-Law Amendment

The Annual Meeting of the NDHSAA membership will be Thursday, October 16, 2014, 4:30 p.m. at the Bismarck Ramkota Hotel. Agenda items will include but not be limited to the approval of the October 2013 and January 2014 minutes, Football Committee and Nominating Committee Reports. The terms for two Board positions will expire in 2015: 1) Shane Martin, Activities Director for Turtle Mountain Community High School represents Class A West and 2) Steve Brannan, Superintendent of Garrison represents Class B Northwest. Representatives from Class A West and Class B Northwest will each be called upon to place two names into nomination. Election results will be announced at the NDHSAA Annual Membership Meeting on January 27, 2015 in Bismarck.

At present, one amendment will be voted on by the membership.  Linton High School has submitted a proposed change to Part IV, Article III, Section III, page 1 of the NDHSAA Constitution and By-Laws:

Current By-Law:
Section III:  If the total enrollment of the seventh and eighth grade pupils in a school or cooperative sponsorship school is not over fifty (50), the fifth and sixth grade pupils of the school may be permitted to participate on all the junior high teams except tackle football and wrestling. Note:  The total enrollment count must take place at the beginning of each season in which this rule is applied.

Proposed Change:

Class A Athletic Directors and Class B Superintendents have been notified of the amendment and will receive information regarding online voting process and procedure through direct email.  Online voting is permissible provided there is no amendment to the amendment from the floor and electronic votes are submitted within the online window.
